Here's What I'm Doing!

Hello, world. Very recently my place of employment, the Great Arizona Puppet Theater, asked me to draw a picture of one of Cinderella's mice. The reason for the illustration... temporary tattoos! During the run of the Cinderella puppet show we are going to be handing out free temporary tattoos of my mouse drawing to the kids. I'm pumped.

Here's what the image looks like.

Mouse Tattoo design

The show hasn't happened yet but I'm already inspired. I just had temporary tattoos made of one of my fish drawings from my short Gulp.

They will look like this.

Fish 5-1

So, the economy is supposedly bad. At least that's what the hype says. And, the studios aren't hiring like they used to... I guess. Well, get off your butt, pull a drawing out of your pocket and get some temporary tattoos made. People are just dying to pay struggling young artists some pocket change for a boss awesome tattoo... I hope.

Animated Lives!: J.J. Sedelmaier

Blue_man_title_card_3The Colbert Report's 'Tek Jansen' :

An interview with J. J. Sedelmaier...

In a presidential campaign filled with the cluttered, clarion sound of thousands upon thousands of words – powerful, eloquent words; mean-spirited, vindictive words – words uttered with articulation, elucidation and strength, misbegotten words mumbled ineffectively and without passion. It eventually became too much. Verbosity awash in verbosity. At the end, for the Scribe it was the images not the words that persisted and lingered in his mind. Images of the vanquished in gracious concession; of the winner in proud but reserved glory. It was the images of the Reverend Jesse Jackson stoically weeping, Queen Oprah overcome with emotion leaning upon the shoulder of a stranger, and it was the lasting faux-poignant visage of Stephen Colbert weeping unashamedly before the unyielding camera.

The Scribe always knew that images held power – from the delicate dabs of Georges Seurat’s impressionistic dotage to today’s digital artists’ youthful interstitial pixel renderings. But this knowledge sometimes had to be refreshed, to be made anew and it was doggoned Colbert that did it. Colbert was a hoot. An absolute hoot. He offered a unique and insanely well-crafted lunacy that was at once cerebral and yet somehow base. And his show had darned fine cartoons too!

What more could you ask?

Norwegian Comics

So, I went to Norway.

I don't know why either, but I am so glad I did. Oslo is a rockin' town and everyone should visit there at least twice.

Anyhoo, I just wanted to share a little piece of what Norway has to offer in comics.

I happened to find a comic book there called Pondus.

Read on if you dare.

Here's Something For All Of You Who Are Into Christian Media

Phil Vischer, the creator of Veggie Tales, is up to something new and very interesting.

If you're interested in seeing what he has been working on since then look at this jellytelly.tv

It's a new mini-channel for children. It looks like it's going to have a little bit of everything: live action, puppets, cartoons, all together in one mini package.

Vischer is looking not only to reach out to Christian children for the audience, he's also reaching out to Christian film makers for new content. If you are interested in creating new media for a Christian audience, then you need to give it a look.

There's your heads up.

WOOGITY WOOGITY WAH WAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
